It is 3 miles from the market town of Penrith where all the necessary shops can be found. It is 2 miles from Ullswater Lake with its magnificent views and fell walks, and the village of Pooley Bridge. Tirril itself boasts a traditional village pub - the Queens Head Inn - winner of the 2003 Pub of the year award. It has a log fire, brews its own ales, and serves both bar and restaurant food, all of which are superb. Being only a short walk from Broad Ing Cottage, you must pay it a visit and absorb the friendly and relaxing atmosphere.
