Description
Priory Farm is situated in the village of Leonard Stanley,in the middle of one of Gloucestershire's most historically rich sites, within the curtilage of the ancient Priory buildings. Next door to the holiday cottages is an Anglo Saxon Chapel. The architectural features suggest that it was constructed in the late 10th or early 11th century and since the dissolution of the monasteries, the building has been used as a farm building. The tithe barn, within the farm complex still retains a complete medieval gable end, and the pond opposite the holiday cottages is thought to be one of the original priory fishponds. The spacious accommodation consists of two adjoining cottages in the converted stable block and old cart shed. The building has been sympathetically restored retaining many of the charming original features. Each cottage has its own individual design. Various farm walks are available catering from a 20 minute amble to a round circular route lasting approx 90 minutes.
