Description
Ringstead Bay is scheduled as a place of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the eastern part of Ringstead belongs to the National Trust. The bay stretches for about two miles from White Nothe in the east to Bran Point in the west. The White House stands in over an acre of private land set back from the cliff. Hedges around the garden provide shelter and privacy. The beach consists of various grades of shingle. After storms and very high tides, areas of coarse sand are sometimes exposed. Except in rough weather, bathing is perfectly safe and the beach is ideal for launching small boats. The reefs, which appear at low tide, are good for shrimping. Ringstead has its own rather unique and tranquil amenities but there is a whole range of traditional seaside opportunities at Weymouth if those are desired. Dorchester has a fine museum and visits to Maiden Castle, the Tank Museum at Bovington and some beautiful country houses and gardens are all worthwhile excursions. Cottage available April - October, all other times by special arrangement, please contact owner directly. On confirmation of Online reservation the booking is subject to owners contract.
